The Ultimate Non-Toxic Household Cleaner – Branch Basics – Special Offer

by Deliciously Organic on October 25, 2012

I’ve been looking for a product like this for years. When I clean my home, it’s important that I’m not using anything which will harm my family. I’ve tried dozens of “green” cleaners, but none of them can even compare to Branch Basics. After using the all-purpose cleaner for a few months, I called them to see if we could offer Deliciously Organic readers a special price and they agreed!

I’ve gotten rid of all other cleaning products in my home. I use Branch Basics as a cleaner for my kitchen, bathrooms, windows, vegetables and fruits, car, as a hand soap, laundry detergent, carpet cleaner, and as stain remover – I accidentally spilled a cup of coffee on my couch and it took out the stain completely!

What is Branch Basics?
Branch Basics is a powerful organic solvent made from the fatty acids of edible and seed-bearing plants. It is a human-safe, non-toxic soap that breaks down hydrocarbons, neutralizes chlorinated pesticides, kills bacteria, viruses, and mold. No matter what kind of cleaning job you’re up against, the all-purpose soap made with this concentrate is the answer. This one product can replace all the cleaners, detergents, de-greasers, laundry detergents and even body soaps you’re currently using. So it’s not only safe and effective, but it’s also economical.

What does “human-safe” mean?
There are many non-toxic and earth friendly green products available, but Branch Basics is human-safe, meaning if accidentally ingested, it will not cause harm. It is so safe that many people who are extremely chemical sensitive and immune-compromised are able to use it with complete confidence. Ecologically and biologically safe, this product meets strict standards.

How does Branch Basics work?
Branch Basics works by enzymatic action, penetrating and breaking up oil molecules into soluble, biodegradable components. This process contributes to the soap’s natural antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, allowing Branch Basics to outperform many of the toxic solvents, detergents, and cleaning products it replaces.

How does something so safe kill bugs?
The same enzymatic action that de-greases is what breaks down the exoskeletons of insects (oil-based creatures), making Branch Basics a safe, powerful pest control. It is a tried-and-true lice remover as well as flea shampoo for pets.

Ingredients:

Purified water, fatty aids, coconut oil, organic alcohol*, folic acid, minerals and enzymes derived from edible and seed-bearing plants

Non-toxic, Biodegradable, Hypo-allergenic
Human-safe (causes no harm if accidentally ingested
Kills bacteria (E. coli, staph, salmonella, etc.)
Kills viruses, mold and parasites
Effectively removes stains and odors
Heals cuts, burns, sunburns, rashes, acne, etc.
Replaces virtually all conventional cleaners
Not tested on animals
Virtually  Odorless
No expiration date
*Evaporated out during the manufacturing process

A MUST for a healthy home
Our homes should be a safe haven, a place for our family to restore and rejuvenate. Instead, the EPA says they’re up to 10 times more toxic than the outdoor air. Ironically, the products we clean with are much to blame. Today there are over 17,000 chemicals allowed in conventional cleaning products, many of which are linked to respiratory issues, learning disabilities and cancer. Even many of the so-called “green” ones contain not-so-safe ingredients. Branch Basics replaces almost all conventional cleaners, saving you time, money and potential health concerns associated with harmful chemicals. It is the clear choice for people who understand the short- and long-term dangers of exposure to the toxic cleaners that are in widespread use today.

Make your own all-purpose cleaner by simply mixing Branch Basics Concentrate with water in a spray bottle. When diluted to the “standard” 5:1 solution (5 parts water to 1 part Branch Basics), the gallon of concentrate yields 6 gallons of ready-to-use formula for all-purpose cleaning! For example, when you make your own carpet cleaner from concentrate, the cost is a little more than 1 penny per ounce. That means a 16 oz. bottle of carpet cleaner costs only about a quarter.

I can’t say enough good stuff about Branch Basics. I tried it a while back from Carrie’s recommendation and I’m fully hooked. I even clean my wedding rings in it and they shine like never before! Somehow that little extra sparkle on my hand perks me up…I think I”ll go clean them now! Thanks Carrie for the deal…really awesome.

Hi Angelia,

Although we love Tropical Traditions, we’re not familiar with their cleaning products. It looks like it’s an all-purpose cleaner, as opposed to a concentrate like Branch Basics, which can be diluted to different amounts depending on the cleaning job. Hope that helps!

What does it smell like? I have tried other “green” cleaners and I can’t stand the smell of them. The only one I like is Myers.

Reply

Deliciously Organic October 25, 2012 at 3:16 pm

It’s has virtually no smell at all. Sometimes when I want it to have a scent, I’ll add a few drops of essential oil to the spray bottle. My current favorite combination is 5 drops lavender, 5 drops grapefruit, and 5 drops geranium.

Hi Vicki, I’m not sure if it makes bubbles for a bubble bath, but I know you can put it in those foamy soap dispensers & use it as hand wash. I haven’t tried it yet though…

It doesn’t bubble up for a bubble bath, but as Kelli mentioned you can put it in a foamy soap dispenser to use as a hand soap.

I bought Branch Basics about a month ago after reading about it on Deliciously Organic and I LOVE it. I was wondering, how do you use it with a foamy soap dispenser? What concentration?

Reply

Branch Basics April 1, 2013 at 6:43 am

Hi Jen. So glad to hear you love Branch Basics! The concentration is really up to you. To get a super thick foam, you’ll need to use mostly concentrate. If you’re okay with a bit runnier foam, then you can use a 1:3 or maybe even try a 1:5 dilution. Usually a 1:3 is a good dilution to get a foamy lather without having to use so much concentrate up. The solution is effective at any concentration so again, it’s really just a matter of preference for how stiff you want your foam to come out. Hope this helps!

Reply

Branch Basics October 26, 2012 at 8:35 am

Erin, we’re not completely familiar with Shaklee products, but from first glance it does look less expensive. What I would ask is, what’s in it? When a product doesn’t list its basic ingredients, whether they’re safe or not, this gives us a red flag. Things like “KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN” and “CONTAINS SURFACANTS” have me wondering if their ingredients are 100% safe. Again, they could be wonderful, but it’s hard to compare their products to Branch Basics!

Thanks for posting the discount! I’ve been wanting to purchase this product for a long time. It was recommended by my nutritionist. Just haven’t been able to afford it until now at 50% off, WOW, I just can’t pass that up.

I’m wondering, we have an organic garden that has been infested with little rollie pollie bugs, they are furiously eating our been plants. They were cute little play things when we were young but, they are destroying our garden. Will this wipe them out? and how should I use it?

Thanks!

Reply

mattie October 26, 2012 at 9:10 am

Ok, sounding great, but how would you compare this to Charlie’s Soap? Sounds like almost the same thing… but they seem to market their ‘concentrates’ differently/separately than their laundry products etc.
What concentration do you use of the BB for laundry?

Reply

Branch Basics October 26, 2012 at 9:43 am

HI Karen! So glad you’re able to take advantage of the discount! Out of curiosity, do you mind telling us who your nutritionist is?! We always love to know who’s recommending our product!

As for your garden, ugh, what a drag! I would definitely give BB a shot, but we can’t guarantee anything. Here’s what we’d do: Every night for a week, spray a 1:10 dilution directly on the infested plants and the bugs/larva themselves. Every morning, spray it down with water because the oil residue mixed with the sun’s heat could dry out the plant. After this initial week, you can dilute it further (1:30) and spray the plants for maintenance, no need to rinse. I”m curious if this works, so please keep us posted!

Thanks,
Allison

This stuff is really great! In fact, at last years WAPF conference, I was having a weird allergic reaction on my eyelid and my sister who is a nutritionist, muscle tested the Branch Basics solution on me….she then sprayed some of it on my eyelid and it calmed my red and puffy eyelid. Several months later, my daughter spilled a berry smoothie on our light carpet….deep purple/red, and we only had “dregs” left in the bottle….it totally lifted every bit up and was just amazing to see. This is a great product and Carrie is offering a wonderful deal!! Definitely worth it!

I have to admit that I am always a bit skeptical on Cleaners that claim they can not only do multiple things but do it VERY well and at the same time can be safely used on a baby’s pacifier as well. We use Organic Cleaners and the cost does quickly add up especially with a 3300 sqft house 7 family members with a baby on the way. I have only recently become a follower of Deliciously Organic and have come to enjoy and respect the Wisdom and Knowledge shared by Carrie. So with that said I read through all the fabulous material and just finished ordering Package #1. I am so very excited and looking forward to minimizing the amount of cleaners and hand soaps bought.

I do have one question. I saw that you mentioned it could be used as a Detergent, we Cloth Diaper using a mix of Bum Genius and Fuzzi Bunz do you know if it is safe or works well on Cloth Diapers?

Thank you Carrie for sharing this with us.

Oh!! one more question :) Does adding the essential oils for fragrance change the make up of the product and do you get the same cleaning power?

Have a great Weekend!!!
Angelina

HI Angelina,

We’re SO excited you found Branch Basics and have no doubt you’ll love it…with a house full of kids and one on the way, life’s too busy to have more than one cleaner! :) BB will totally streamline and simplify the cleaning process and you’ll LOVE what an amazing burn remedy and skin healer it is, on top of being completely safe for your little ones! We have a mom who goes on and on about how great it is to find a product she can spray on her 6 mos old’s hands, high chair, pacifier and eczema. As for cloth diapers, it’s the only thing I’d use! It pulls out stains and deodorizes beautifully without the chemicals that are usually found in even the safest “detergents”. You can spot treat with a 1:5 dilution and/or soak the diapers if need be. We also recommend using 1/2 baking soda for added deodorizer, but mainly for softening effect. The essential oils will not change the product’s integrity, however we recommend using a high quality oil to avoid any contamination. Happy Cleaning! :)

Can you use this to clean tile or hardwood/laminate floors?

Reply

Branch Basics October 29, 2012 at 9:14 am

Absolutely! It cleans tile and laminate beautifully with even a highly-diluted ratio, 1:30 even works. (1 part concentrate, 30 parts water.) I’m not a stickler for measuring (and there’s a lot of leeway with this product) so I usually just put 1 T in a bucket of water and it works very well.

Hardwoods are a different story due to the finish. We recommend a VERY high dilution of water so the soap doesn’t strip your floor, up to 1:200 or so. Always test an inconspicuous area before cleaning the whole floor. For my hardwoods, I do as little as 1/2 teaspoon for a whole bucket of water. But, again, spot testing is recommended!

Yes, absolutely. You can use the default 1:5 dilution to start, but move up to a 1:1 dilution for tougher jobs. Let the product sit and the enzymes go to work for a few minutes before agitating with a brush.

I’m always on the look out for organic/safe/natural products to use in my home, person, etc. I’ve been making a lot of homemade items typically using vinegar and water. While it’s inexpensive and a fairly good cleaner, it would be nice to have something a little more powerful and versatile. Sounds like Branch Basics fits the bill. Can’t wait for my order to arrive!

Sometimes finding things online becomes a hassle because they won’t ship to APOs :( We are on a super tiny Army post in Germany and well, our choices for organic anything are slim to none :( I have resorted to buying things offline and making a lot of stuff myself.
Question, do you, can you, and how would you use this to clean the inside of your toilet? What would you recommend for cleaning urine out of a mattress?

Thanks so much!

Reply

Branch Basics November 1, 2012 at 10:14 am

HI Emily! It’s wonderful for toilets! Just use the 1:5 (default, all-purpose) dilution and spray the toilet bowl. Let sit for a few minutes to let those enzymes really go to work. Then use a toilet brush to add a little elbow grease. It will neutralize the odors and toxins as well. As for urine, same thing! It’s wonderful b/c of it’s ability to pull out odors. So you may find that the smell actually amplifies at first, but keep spraying the 1:5 (stronger if necessary, but this should do the trick) and let is sit, then apply some pressure/agitation and it should be gone. HOpe this helps! :)

Thank you, Carrie! I just placed my order for a gallon. Can’t wait to try it out! Especially now that I know I can use it to spray the yard to kill mosquitos.

Reply

Branch Basics November 1, 2012 at 10:44 am

Hi! Yes, you can spray mosquitoes directly with the 1:5 dilution and they drop out of the sky. You can also spray on yourself, however this doesn’t seem to work as well (as a repellant). Customers have found that spraying an area before going out on the patio, for instance, has helped tremendously. For more serious problems, people here in Texas have been putting it into their mosquito foggers (usually a 2-gallon pesticide sprayer, like you can buy at Home Depot here.) You would use a 2:1 ratio, with 2 parts being water and 1 part Branch Basics. You can then spray the perimeter, patio, grass, etc. A woman lives in the swamps of Florida swears that this is all she does and never deals with mosquitoes. She says it takes a few times, as the egg population dies off and you may need to spray mosquitoes directly for a while in the beginning. After a bit, she says you can use a less-diluted formula, going down 3-4:1. Hope that leaves you with some better direction once you get your gallon!
Happy cleaning! :)

Curious mom here…we use vinegar with tea tree oil and other essential oils to clean in our home….but wondering what the fatty acids are and which plants you are using the oils from?

Thanks!

Reply

Branch Basics April 10, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Hi Susan! Sorry for the delayed response. We’re not able to tell the exact plants from which our fatty acids and enzymes are derived from because this combination is what really makes our formula unique, but we CAN speak with confidence about their 100% purity and lack of ANY pesticides, gluten, soy, corn, nuts, tree nuts (including peanuts) or dairy. We manufactured this soap with pregnant women, babies and the chemically sensitive in mind so we can speak to its absolute purity. I hope you can understand. As for vinegar, while much better than most “green”, “non-toxic” cleaners, it can release acetic acid into the air. From the Occupational Health Guideline for Acetic Acid: “Acetic acid vapors cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. Inhalation of concentrated vapors may cause serious damage to the lining of the nose, throat and lungs. Delayed breathing difficulties can occur.” If there isn’t proper ventilation, over time the acetic acid will corrode soft metals like copper and brass and can cause problems with the HVAC system as the acetic acid passes through the air ducts. Also, most vinegar is made from GMO corn.

Branch Basics is much more versatile….it can be used as a hand soap, stain remover, vegetable wash, etc. in addition to household cleaning….so we hope you’ll give it a try! Let us know if you have any more questions.

Reply

Branch Basics April 10, 2013 at 6:19 pm

Hi Audra,

So glad you’re loving BB! You should absolutely replace your detergent with it…this is one of our most passionate topics b/c we believe anything you’re soaking your towels, clothes and pillowcases in should be totally human safe and free of all toxins. You can start with 1 T for an average load and, yes, front loading HE washers are just perfect. With front loaders, we recommend adding it to a cup of water before pouring into the dispenser just to make sure it’s all mixed in.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
