This Strawberry Protein Shake tastes just like a strawberry milkshake and supplies fat-soluble vitamins, protein from natural sources, and healthy carbohydrates.

Strawberry Protein Shake

I’m always looking for more ways to add liver to my diet because it’s one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. I know it sounds odd to put liver in a shake, but I promise you won’t be able to taste it!

This shake has around 27 grams of protein in it all from real food sources! I haven’t been able to find a protein powder that isn’t highly processed or that contains lots of phytic acid (from seeds, etc.), so I still recommend getting protein from whole food sources.

Strawberry Protein Shake

If you have a dairy-intolerance, you can switch out the raw milk and cream with coconut milk and coconut cream. Enjoy!

Thanks for this recipe! I had it for breakfast this morning and it was delicious. Didn't have cream or collagen peptides on hand so subbed a bit of yogurt and a tablespoon of grassfed gelatin. I wasn't brave enough to add liver but maybe next time!

Thanks for the recipe! I am a nursing mama and am struggling to find resources as to whether raw liver is safe for me to eat. Do you by chance know of a source you could direct me?

I googled whether it was safe to eat raw liver and only found articles that said not to. It's not safe. How did you discover that you could safely eat raw liver? Please share !

Hi, this recipe looks fabulous! Can you tell me the exact brand of coconut milk and coconut cream you recommend? When I click on the links for them, they take me to Thrive market but it doesn't show the specific product brand. Thanks!

Lynn the best coconut milks and creams are ones without gums in them. Just straight up coconut. I like Aroy-d in the carton or can. You can find it at most Asian grocery stores or online. Native forest has a gum free coconut milk now too. Thrive market carries this one.

WOW!! So deliciously creamy! Tastes like strawberry ice cream to me. I used what I had on hand so omitted the cream and just used the 3/4 cup if coconut milk (from a can), Vital proteins collagen peptides, vanilla, but only used 1/2 tsp of honey. If you haven’t tried this yet, you have to make it!!

Where have you heard this and did they say why? All berries are low glycemic and have good vitamins, protects our heart and increases good cholesterol ( which fights inflammation) can lower blood pressure. They also have fiber and antioxidants called polyphenols. I would think they are a good choice in moderation. 👍🏻 What say you Carrie ? 😊

I'm not sure why someone would say this. Berries can be a part of thyroid healing diet. :)

Are the nutritional facts correct? It looks like one smoothie is all I need all day and then some! 1765 calories is way too many for a smoothie. 135 g of fat and 78 g of protein? This does not sound correct.

Sometimes the nutrition analyzer is WAY off. I'm hoping the glitch will be fixed soon! I've put it into MyFitnessPal and it's more around 300 calories.

Is it safe to consume the liver when it’s raw?! I love adding to my smoothie because, you’re right, it’s less noticeable. I’m just concerned. Thank you!

Kim i would look for a grass fed/ pasture raised liver. Wellness meats is a good place to start. You can thaw it out and then dice it up into pellets and re-freeze It. Then just pop a handful into your smoothies. Can’t even taste it!

Would it be non-beneficial to have liver along with dairy since calcium might inhibit the iron? Thank you!

Raw milk contains both calcium and iron, and nature always puts nutrients in the right combinations. So, I don't see any reason why it would be detrimental to add a bit of liver to the shake.

Just tried this recipe with what I had on hand: raw milk and one scoop of my green apple flavored Designs for Health Arthroben Collagen Peptides blend. Didn't add any sweeteners, didn't need it. Loved it so much!!! I was so excited about the fantastic flavor, texture and nutrition, I made 4 more batches for the Freeze Drier so I can take it camping with us next month. Highly recommend the raw organ meat, can't even taste it.
