How to Make Marinara Sauce

I’m excited to share with you the first-ever Deliciously Organic cooking video: How to Make Marinara Sauce!

I want to teach some of the basics with these videos and help arm you with delicious and simple recipes for your kitchen. We’ll have 2-3 new videos each month, so make sure to subscribe to the Deliciously Organic Channel on YouTube so you’ll get updates as soon as they’re posted. Our family has used this marinara recipe for years. It’s quick, only requires a few ingredients, and is absolutely delicious!

Marinara Sauce

  • Yield: Makes about 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning Blend
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place olive oil, garlic and Italian seasoning blend in a cold saucepan. Turn the heat to medium and heat until garlic starts to sizzle, about 1 minute. Pour in crushed tomatoes and sea salt. Bring to a low simmer. Season with additional sea salt to taste (if desired). Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 5 days, or freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

    You mention in the video to add about 1 teaspoon of salt, but the recipe says 1/2 teaspoon. I just wanted to let you know in case it was a typo and in case some people just look at the recipe without watching the video. : )

          I don't test my recipes with substitutions, so I don't know what would lend the exact same flavor and texture.

    How long does it simmer? I know some people usually simmer theirs for 2 hours.

      After you bring it to a simmer, the sauce is ready.

    I came across your blog/cookbook last week and have been intrigued ever since.......can't stop reading! I don't suffer from any thyroid problems that I am aware of, but love the be efits of eating an organic and grain-free diet. I am struggling a bit with condiments such as ketchup, barbeque sauce, etc... Do you have a brand that you use or a recipe for such items? My other question is balsamic vinegar ok to use? I am sorry you had to suffer as you did, but I am extremely grateful for the wealth of knowledge you are able to share with others. I look forward to your future post and thank you! ~Beth

    Hi Carrie, I just made this. Well it's still simmering but it is so good and soooo easy! yay! Then I went and watched your artichoke video and man was that helpful. I'll have to try cooking artichokes. : )
